The Freddie Mercury Tribute Page (sort of)

Wayne's World

Bohemian Rhapsody was possibly Queen's greatest song ever. When Mike Myers (Wayne) first heard it on the radio he thought, "What the hell is this!?" and so subsequently it was used in the film. You know the scene;

Wayne: What say we have a bit of Bohemian Rhapsody?
Garth: Good call!

and Wayne and Garth bash their heads around in time to the music. Wayne's neck hurt for a week afterwards.

After the film was released, Wayne and Garth (Dana Carvey), received a letter from Queen themselves. Wayne was about to apologise ('I didn't know...' what he didn't know isn't clear, but I bet he doesn't know exactly how many copies Bohemian Rhapsody has actually sold), but it turned out that the letter actually said, "Thank you for using our song". He couldn't believe it. Queen were well impressed with the film, and decided to use clips from it in the Bohemian Rhapsody video. In fact, according to some bloke, the success of Queen (or it may have just been the song, or even Wayne and Garth - he only referred to 'them') was entirely down to the film "Wayne's World".

To see what all the fuss is about the song, click on the play button on the left. Or watch the Wayne's World title animation by clicking on the playbutton with the little box above it.

Oh, and there's the Rolf Harris version as well - described as "Bohemian Rhapsody with a Wobble Board". Try it yourself. Click here to activate the wobble-board (or, of course, you can make your own wobble board as per the instructions on the Rolf Harris page), then sing the words below:

(Best sung with an Australian accent, out of time with the music and slightly out of tune as well. Using the music from a completely different song helps as well.)

Is this the real life
Is this just fantasy
Calling a landslide
Or escape from reality?

Open your eyes
Look up to the skies and see

I'm just a poor boy
I need no sympathy
cos I'm

Easy come
Easy go
Little high
Little low

Any way the wind blows
Doesn't really matter to me
To me

Mumma
Just killed a man
Put a gun against his head
Pulled my trigger now he's dead

Mumma
Life had just begun
But now I've gone and thrown it all away

Mumma
Oooouhoooohuh
Didn't mean to make you cry
If I'm not back again this time tomorrow
Carry on
Carry on
As if nothing really matters

Too late
My tide has come
Send shivers down the spine
Body's aching all the time

Goodbye everybody
I've got to go
Got to leave it all behind and face the truth

Mumma
Oooooooooouhhhhooooooouh...
I don't wanna die
Sometimes wish I'd never been born at all

I see a little sillohetta of a man
Scaramoosh
Scaramoosh
Will you do the fandango?

Thunderbolt of lightning
Very, very frightening
Me

Galileo
Galileo
Galileo
Galileo
Galileo figarole

Magnifico-o-o-o-o
I'm just a poor boy
Nobody loves me
He's just a poor boy from a poor family
Sparing his life from his monstrosity

Easy come
Easy go
Will you let me go

Espila
No
We will not let you go

Let me go

Espila
No
We will not let you go
Let me go

Espila
No
We will not let you go

Let me go
Let me go
LET ME GO!

Mummamia
Mummamia
Mummamia let me go

The 'ells above as a devil put aside for me
For me
For me

So you think you can stone me and spit in my eye
So you think you can love me and leave me to die

Oh, baby
Can't do this to me baby

I've just got to get out
Just got to get right out of here

Nothing really matters
Anyone can see

Nothing really matters
Nothing really matters to me

Any way the wind blows
